Sarah Rose Painter
Sarah is the curtains, blinds and soft furnishings side of the business. Sarah has been involved in interiors since she was 16 years of age. She taught herself basic curtain making skills to beautifully dress her own windows and discovered she had a natural ‘eye’ for colour combinations and a love of hand stitching.
Sarah’s passion for working with fabrics drove her to complete a course at Suffolk College to gain more knowledge and skill in all aspects of window dressing. From blinds and curtain headings of all kinds to elaborate pelmet shapes, swags and tails; everything hand stitched and made to fit any shaped window.
She subsequently took the decision to start her own business — Sarah Rose Soft Furnishings at Stonham Barns Retail Complex in 1996. This business flourished for 9 years, in which time Sarah built up a large clientele and an impeccable reputation.
Alongside Sarah’s business at Stonham Barns, was an extremely skilled upholsterer, Nigel at Cherish Upholstery. Realising both of their potentials a strong working relationship was developed. In 2005 both businesses took the decision to combine efforts and provide their customers with an unrivalled level of experience and workmanship to cater for all interior needs. This also required a move in premises to accommodate both businesses.
Together both Sarah Rose Soft Furnishings and Cherish Upholstery, pride themselves on offering a personal service to their customers, with home consultations and free experienced advice given.
Nigel Painter
Nigel has been in the upholstery industry since he left school in 1976. He started his apprenticeship in Stowmarket and learnt all of his basic aptitudes from an “old school” traditional upholsterer.
He quickly honed his skills and became highly regarded amongst local upholsterers for his attention to detail and pride in his workmanship. Over the following ten years or so Nigel gained more valuable experience from producing new upholstered furniture for one of East Anglia’s leading upholstery firms, and from restoring upholstered antique furniture.
With such a solid background, and experience Nigel decided to start his own business. He opened Cherish Upholstery at Stonham Barns Retail Centre in 1994. Where it thrived and grew over the following 12 years. Nigel established a strong and loyal clientele and built a network of contacts within the industry.
Realising the benefits and potential of combining two such complementary businesses, Cherish Upholstery join forces with Sarah Rose Soft Furnishings. .
Nigel has a great talent for re-shaping customer’s existing suites, transforming them from something dated and plain into something completely original. With more space to utilise now, no job is too big or small and any scale project can be undertaken.
